She began her career as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), working on an adult inpatient psychiatric unit and since that time has worked in various settings including community mental health care, private practice, primary care and academia. Now, Kirby has over a 12 years of expertise treating adult patients with mental health conditions and substance use disorders conditions, combined with multiple years of providing undergraduate and graduate level nursing education.
In 2022, Kirby started her own business, Beacon Behavioral Health and Consulting, which would allow her to continue to treat and care for individuals with mental health conditions with a holistic and comprehensive approach.
